Hi! I know that this forum hasn't been active for a month or so, but I was curious as to whether or not I could get some help with a costume I'm trying to make.
I'm new to sewing (although I have the basics down), and I'm a cosplayer (someone who goes to nerdy conventions and dresses up as their favorite character). There is a costume I've been wanting to make for some time now, but I don't know how to make a tutu.
I came across this website in search for an appropriate tutu pattern, but I haven't found one that looks the same yet... This is what the tutu looks like:

I'm not really sure where to start. Any pointers? Tips?
Thanks!!
Hey there! Yeah it's sometimes slow around here, but there are several of us that post around here often. I think from the looks of it, you are needing a double pouf tutu. I'll try to explain it as best as I can:
1. find out your waistband measurement and subtract 5 inches
2. sew together a strip of non-roll elastic measuring your waist measurement minus 5"
3. you are going to want to cut strips of tulle that are two different lengths. So for example, your longest length would be four more inches than the shortest.
4. then you want to tie the strips of tulle in slipknots on the elastic, with all the long tulle strips going one way and all the short tulle strips facing the other.
5. when you are finished you can turn the tutu "inside out" and the tulle will be a short pouf-y layer on top and a longer layer on the bottom. It will be nice and full, but you will probably still need bloomers of some sort of cover up underneath it.
If this does not make sense, please post. I'll try to clarify if need be.
Happy Crafting!
Sylvia
